Goins succeeds Kathy Wilson, whose retirement marks the end of an impressive tenure

March 10, 2025 — The ASC Quality Collaboration (ASCQC), an organization dedicated to advancing patient safety and quality of care delivery in ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), is pleased to announce that Nina Goins, MSN, RN, will serve as its new Executive Director. Goins succeeds current ASCQC Executive Director Kathy Wilson.

Goins most recently served as the Chairperson of the ASCQC’s Board of Directors and has been an active member of the board since 2019. She previously served as the Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations at Regent Surgical and as Vice President Quality and Clinical Services at AMSURG. She has also held leadership positions at Ardent Health Services and Sound Physicians.

As Executive Director, Goins will oversee all operations, functions, and activities of ASCQC.

“I am honored to step into this role and continue to drive meaningful improvements in patient safety and quality, ensuring that patients receive the highest level of care in ASCs,” Goins says. “ASCQC plays a critical role in upholding high standards for care delivery, measure development and public reporting. I am excited to lead this organization into its next chapter, building on our strong foundation of collaboration, advocacy and innovation.”

Wilson states, “With her extensive ASCQC and ASC experience, Nina is the ideal choice to lead our organization. Her commitment to surgery center quality and safety will strengthen ASCQC’s impact, advancing the measurement and demonstration of high-quality, safe care delivered in ASCs.”

“I am excited to see Nina step into this leadership role as I know her impressive data analytics expertise will greatly enhance ASCQC’s benchmarking impact in the ASC industry,” says ASCQC Assistant Executive Director Becky Ziegler-Otis, MHA, CASC, CHC, RHIA, CPHQ. “I look forward to collaborating with her to further ASCQC’s efforts in improving quality care delivery in ASCs.”

Wilson, who was named ASCQC Executive Director in early 2021, is retiring after a career in the ASC industry spanning more than 30 years.

“I would like to thank Kathy for her dedication to this role,” Goins says. “Her wisdom, leadership and contributions to the ASC industry have been immeasurable. She has played a pivotal role in shaping ASCQC’s impact, and I look forward to building on the strong legacy she leaves behind.”

Ziegler-Otis says, “Working alongside Kathy has been an absolute privilege. Her contributions to ASCQC are extensive, and they have furthered ASCQC’s mission and solidified the organization as a vital resource for ASC quality and patient safety.”

“After so many incredible years in the ASC industry, and my time leading ASCQC, I am filled with gratitude for the numerous dedicated professionals I’ve had the privilege to work alongside,” says Wilson. “It has been an honor to contribute to the advancement of quality and safety in ASCs, and I am confident that ASCQC will continue to make a lasting impact.”
